Négatif

As a kid, I remember cutting half-folded papers, that revealed once unfolded a surprising shape. They could look like crocodiles, houses or clouds, depending on the viewers interpretation.

I decided to re-use this playful technic to randomly shape vases, bowls, containers. I fold the papers, cut, and unfold them. Then, I attempt to reproduce the négatif of those paper cuts on my potter’s wheel, to produce tangible and functional objects of out it.

The paper-cut profils become 3-dimensional revolutions.
